I was diagnosed with degeneration and herniated disc in my lower back....?

I was diagnosed with degeneraion disc and herniated disc in my lower back after my fall at work...i play volleyball and im goin to school to be an officer...right now im in physical therapy...they have started traction...will i still be able to play sports and accomplish my goals?
