Can a car getting hit while parked affect the transfer case?

I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy 4dr 4x4 with a 4.3L V6 Vortec. Several weeks ago, my car was hit pretty hard while it was parked. I was not in the vehicle. The damage seemed fairly minor. The usual. Messed up the front end a little bit, but still drivable. Well about a week and a half after I was hit, I found that my 4 wheel drive was no longer working. I used the 4WD a couple weeks before getting hit and it worked fine, so I'm just wondering if being hit while in park could have affected it at all. I can hear it clicking in, or at least trying to, when I switch it, so it doesn't seem like the actuator is sticking or out. And when I put it in 4WD Low, it's sluggish like it should be through the first gear, but normal after that. And in either hi or low 4WD, when I brake traction on dirt roads, the rear tire is the only one spinning. Checked the fuses already, and the transfer case was rebuilt only a few years ago. Anyone have any ideas?

Why do i act clueless?

I am 12 and i go to a small private school and there are only about 35 kids in my grade. There is this guy who i almost have every single class with and i talk to him a lot. New computer build graphics issue.?

I build a computer the other day, a budget gaming rig. The parts are: AMD Phenom II x4 955, 4gb Kingston HyperX Blu, Seagate 250gb 7200rpm (just a spare drive I had), DiabloTek DA 600w, ASRock 870 Extreme3, Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and nVidia 8400gs PCI. The issue is with the graphics card. I have absolutely no intention of using this for long, a Radeon 6870 is in the mail, but as it's not working well now I'd like it fixed. What it's doing is pretending the video card has no drivers. I installed the drivers from nVidias site (195.62) and the nVidia Control Panel is apparently operational, I can switch screens and change settings, and even OC the card with RivaTuner. Aero even works, but there are these tiny things that point to it not working. In DXDiag, it says that it is running DirectX 11, when the card is DX10, and when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del, the screen draws from the top down rather slowly, and the in-game performance (or lack thereof :D ) is rather sloppy even for the 8400's usual s**tiness. What is it doing wrong? BTW my monitors are 1440x900 and 1920x1080.

Traction for Scoliosis?

I am trying everything possible to get rid of this hump on my back caused by scoliosis. I have an 80 degree curve and I hate it so much everything I wear looks horrible!!! Bicycle rear brake problems?

Hey guys, I would like to begin this by stating that I don't know bicycle terms very well, so if I'm using the wrong terms, please bare with me. Okay so I have a crappy mongoose mountain bike. Me and my friends found a trail to go riding at. The trail has alot of twists and turns, and most of the path is covered with pine-straw, which brings along problems for me. Because I didn't have back brakes, I couldn't take sharp turns very fast. I was having to use front brakes, which was very dificult because on pine-straw, the front wheel doesn't even have to lock up to lose traction. Thats why I need my back brake. The brake hasn't been working for a few months now, but it was never really that necessary up until about now. I don't want to take it to a bike shop. I believe the problem is that the brake line doesn't have enough tension, so I tried to fix that. On the rear brake, I pulled the brake line very tight, but that caused both of the brake pads to press up against the wheels. So I loostened them a little bit, and I lightly pulled the brake lever, and it still had a good bit of tension, and the brake pads were not touching. So I took it for a little stroll, but after one or two times of about 50% braking, the line lost a little bit of tension. It was certainly better than before, but not enough to really help me on the trail. So I tightened a screw that was on the rear brake lever, and it pushed the lever outward, creating more tension. Again it still wasn't enough tension. Is there anything else I can do? The screw on the handle bars is as tight as I can get it, and I pulled the line out at the rear brake as much as possible with out the pads touching the rim. What do I do now?

Why won't my 1999 Saab 9-5 ACC power up after I tried to fix the pixel problem?

After successfully repairing the SID unit using foam tape to add pressure to the ribbon cable, I tried doing the same thing to the ACC unit but now it won't power up when I put it back in the car! I tried resetting it (off and auto buttons simultaneously) and also nothing is blocking light sensor, but still absolutely no power or hint of life! While taking it apart and putting it together, I didn't have anything unusual happen (like dropping it, ripping the ribbon, etc.) so I have no idea what might have gone wrong? How can I become a figher pilot with poor grades?

I am a 10th grader in New York. My grade point average is about a 3.2. I am enrolled in multiple AP classes(stats,chem,) and plan on taking more next year. I know my grades are not good enough for Annapolis or USAFA but my dream is to become a fighter pilot. I play soccer in the fall, run track in the winter and play tennis in the spring. Medical Malpractice? Need some advise please?

I got into a car accident on Feb 4 2011 two weeks after i went to the hospital because i couldnt even walk, they did an MRI and found out i had a herniated disc. and recomemded me to contact a lawyer, some one gave me the name of a lawyer which i did go to his office and signed an agreement that he is going to be the one taking the case. he seem very knowledgeable of this situations. then he gave me a number for a doctor that was taking the "Letter Protection". Letter that means once we get the money from the other insurance company i will pay the doctor. Well!!! i went to this doctor. he took a look at the report (very quick) and told me ok you have a herniated disc... gave me some pain killers and some therapy... guess what! the therapy was on a massage bed for 15 minutes for 6 weeks.... Every time i was going there i was feeling more pain. He said that was normal, only saw me 3 times whitin those weeks. one at the begging, one when he told me it was normal to feel pain and the other one the last one... which was the worse one. Feeling a lot of pain, i told him how i was feeling and he came out with... Ok what do you want to do? i went like uh? you are the doctor give me the options... he said you have your nerves between your bones! I started to wonder!!! We never said anything about that type of case, is just a herniated disc... then like off coursen not knwing what he was talking about... he went to the paperwork (never took a look at the MRI) he said the best is surgery or he can give a Traction package that i can have at home, Surgery is not good neither some injections because that will ruin your spinal cord... i asked him... where is the part in that document (report) stating that i have my nerves between my bones. he looked and then he said you have a herniated disc... tried to look good he started to talk about the traction thing again. i went to my lawyer told him about this... and he talked to this doctor, then he called me back and told me that this "doctor" didnt know what i had. i have to go and look for another doctor, finally i got it. he looked at the MRI with me the same day i was there. first visit. he told me what the ER pple told me. and also said that the injections will be good and they will not hurt my spine because the herniated disc is L5 which is the very end o my spine. i do not have nerves between my bones... not to worry about, and once we are good with the injections i will feel better, guess what. is the time that i feel NO PAIN at all. it took only 3 weeks with this doctor but with the first one it took 6 weeks for me to find out he didnt know nothing about me. and the only thing that he could say was... weeks and thats as good as you going to get. Can i do something about this doctor that didnt know **** about me?

On facebook my friend told me that she'd seen someone using my profile picture under a different name and asked why I'd put a fake name. I didn't have any idea what she was talking about so she showed me when I was at hers, and someone has used my photos and is pretending to be someone else and they've got all these people that I don't know in their friend list and have pretty much all my photos that I only want my friends to be able to see. I've reported them and got a load of my friends to report the profile too but it's still there after like a week of reporting. I don't know who's been taking my photos either. My self cofindence has gone?

I used to be really confident through out primary school, i used to do as many activities as i can with people, speak to everyone without worrying what to say. But ever since my brother died, i feel all my confidence has gone completely, not just because he has died but he used to praise me, tell me how good i was, we had a very strong bond, i still find it very hard to imagine i'm never going to see him again. Also my best friend, she had literally no confidence what so ever! So i used to boost her up all the time, now she has more confidence than me, she has a perfect boyfriend, and way more friends than what i do! I'm not blaming her but i also feel all my confidence has been given to her, now she over shadows me. So socially i'm scared of opening up, speaking my opinion, standing up for myself, so pretty much getting out of my shell. I am scared of speaking to people, sometimes i feel i have to tell lies so they would want to have interest in me, because i feel if i just be myself than i'm going to be boring. Because of this, i tend to only speak to people that i feel comfortable with, or people that i don't know who doesn't know me, so i don't have to be the person i am at high school. It's really weird because you wouldn't think i do drama, i absolutely love acting, and when i'm acting i suddenly do get this rush of confidence, i think it's because i don't have to be me, i'm pretending to be someone else. Also sometimes when i look at myself i think i do look pretty, i buy the nicest clothes and do my makeup nicely. Sadly this is a completely normal reaction for a good first time mommy. In my opinion fear keeps us on our toes lol My daughter slept better on her tummy too and it scared me so for the first 8 months or so she slept on her tummy onmy chest...this allowed my paranoid butt to sleep and her to sleep the way she wanted. Cribs terrified me for whatever reason and she went straight from sleeping inour bed to sleeping in a toddler bed. She is now 26 months old and a fantastic sleeper :) It gets less scary when you know they can roll over if they cant breathe or take the pillow off thier face. Hang in there!

Hey so im 18 and in Georgia. Just wondering if im going to lose my license and if so for how long. One day it was raining and i was driving my truck with pretty slick tires. Its a manual transmission. I was at a light and turning left. there were gtwo left hand turn lanes and i was in the one on the right. There was a gas station not too far down the road so i was trying to speed up and get around the turn before the car on the left so i could get in the lane he was in and turn into the gas station. the light turned green so i hit the gas and the tires spun so i put the clutch in and put it in second and it caught and pulled me forward fast, so i freaked and turned the wheel causing the rear to lose traction and slide out. i saved it and made it around the turn without wrecking or anything. a cop saw it and pulled me over. i told the officer what happened and he gave me two tickets. one for failure to maintain lane and one for exhibition of acceleration. i have court may 5th and am really nervous. i have written an apology letter to the court/judge, signed up for a defensive driving class, and my father is going to write a note telling the judge the punishment he has already given me which is he took my license until the fall when i go off to my freshman year at college. i am extremely nervous about losing my license considering i don't want to have to go through my first year of college without a drivers license. i just want to know what my chances are of losing or not losing my license/ any help is appreciated. Difference Between Wheel Speed Sensor and ABS?

when you apply the brake hard enough to lock up the tire the speed sensor tells the computer that the abs needs to kick into action. thats why the brakes are pulsating (it thinks you are skidding) your abs is prob on all the time while braking you can only feel the pulsating at slower speeds. you aren't getting warning lights because the computer sees the abs working properly by what the speed sensor is telling it. sometimes if you hit a bump or turn sharply while abs is working you will get a flash of a warning for a second or two. replace your speed sensors, if you are handy I'm sure you can diy if you research online first prob get parts for 200 or less, and spend a sat afternoon. good luck.

Lower back pain along with loss of sensation in upper left leg?

Ok I asked this question regarding my back earlier on here but now im getting worse. My back pain is still there and I did traction for 5 days and that didnt help. Now I have lost sensation in my left leg. From the mid buttocks to my thigh I have lost sensation. I cant feel any pain. I tried pinching myself and poking the area with a blunt object and I still dont feel any thing. I can still move but I just dont feel anything. I think im getting worse. Requested Torque Signal Circuit Malfunction c1277?

So what does this trouble code mean? My ABS and traction control lights come on every now and then. I took my car in for a state inspection and asked them to pull trouble codes so I could find out what was wrong with my ABS system. All they pulled was a Code c1277 requested torque signal malfunction. They didn't know what the code meant so they didn't charge me :). The ABS and traction control lights only come on once in a blue moon. I cleaned all the chassis grounds that I could find. I cleaned all the ABS fusses (contacts were dirty) and replaced the ABS relay. I the ABS light and Traction control lights have not come on since. Both systems work great. But what does this code mean? Its for a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI.

How do I make my iPod restore when iTunes won't let me?

I have a 160 gb iPod Classic. I was listening to music when it started to delay. So I held down the center and menu button to restart it. It then went to say to restore it. I went to plug it into my iTunes and the screen went black and white and says "Do not disconnect." with a flashing red circle with an dash through it. Whenever I click "restore" on my itunes, it starts to and then it stops saying it has an unknown error (1439). Is there anyway to override this and make it restore? What would cause this car problem?

My sister's 1999 Chevy Cavalier has over 190,000 on the car. It's in pretty decent shape. Tonight her car has an ETS OFF code on the dash. The weather has been very wet and messy. I went over to check out the car what I could find out. The tires on the car were really low. The lowest was 15 and 20 psi on the rear tires. What is the ETS and what would cause the light to come on? Is this the traction control system that comes on while driving on slippery roads? Thanks for any help.

Requested Torque Signal Circuit Malfunction c1277?

So what does this trouble code mean? My ABS and traction control lights come on every now and then. I took my car in for a state inspection and asked them to pull trouble codes so I could find out what was wrong with my ABS system. All they pulled was a Code c1277 requested torque signal malfunction. The ABS and traction control lights only come on once in a blue moon. I cleaned all the chassis grounds that I could find. I cleaned all the ABS fusses (contacts were dirty) and replaced the ABS relay. I the ABS light and Traction control lights have not come on since. Both systems work great. But what does this code mean? Its for a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI.

What to do when someone from work it's following you pretending to be driving in the same direction?

I work at this place where there are a lot of gossipers. I haven't tell them where I live at. One day one of the employees saw me going in the same direction as him and his wife, who happens to work at the same company different location. So they followed me home, they usually drive two cars away from me. I noticed him for a while but didn't care, cause I thought hey its a very common route to get to that area. He has done like 3 times, so now I thought this cant be a coincidence. Today, while I was driving home from work, he went a different path but ended up on the same street I usually drive to get home. After doing some stuff at home, I decided to leave and do some errands. After I took the main street to my house he and his wife where there, behind me again. I took a different path to get to the freeway. I was driving on the right lane and he on the left. I decided to change directions and make a right turn on a near street. He saw me turning to the right and he changed lanes from far left into far right and followed me on that street until we got to a stop sign. He decided not to go just right after me so he was a car behind. I made a left turn on the stop sign so did he. I kept going on the same street, when I was one street away from the freeway I grabbed my phone and called my dad to let him know this couple from work were following me. I got to the freeway but instead of going into the freeway I kept on the gateway. We drove for like 3 minutes and then they accelerated a little bit and they catch up with me, and then he passed me and the wife turned to see me. I said good bye with my hand but I don't know if she saw or pretended not to see me. This is getting weird, cause they want to know where I live and personal stuff they don't have to know, and since I don't tell them now they decided to followed me. Chevy Cobalt Clicking Noise - What is it?

My Cobalt has 38k miles on it. It's never been abused. My wife drives it and I maintain it. Yesterday, I was in it as a passenger and as we were traveling in a straight line on the interstate I could hear a distinct slapping sound. It's not brake related and it's not a front end problem. It sounded more like something flopping around erratically like a wire or a chain was hitting something. I jacked up each front wheel and spun them to and fro. The clicking noise can be head from either side. If it's a bearing it appears to be internal. My other guess is: It may be related to the traction control parts inside the case. Maybe a chain is hitting inside? Any other suggestions?

MIL driving me crazy with my newborn?

Ok so this is my third baby, but her first grandchild. I know how to take care of a baby and I know the current do's and don'ts. The last baby she raised was 27 years ago. Anyway I finally got her to stop putting him on his belly which was the first issue I had. She swears he NEEDS to go on his belly because if he spits up he will choke. I told my bf who was actually listening to her that more babies die from SIDS than they do from choking and that our son is breastfed and hardly ever spits up anyway. He finally started listening to me when I asked him if he wold like the doctor to explain to him instead. Other than that it's been a bunch of little things until now. He is almost 7 weeks old. I try putting him in his crib as much as possible to get him used to it, but in the middle of the night if it's not working he goes in his swing or his bouncy chair. Both of them are in a reclined position. We live with his parents right now because before I came along there was no point of him having a place. He is a truck driver and is only home 1 or 2 days a week. Also last summer both his parents needed surgery and were out of work so he was the one here paying the bills. Now we are saving to buy our own house. Anyway she keeps lecturing me about how I need to put him in his crib blah blah blah. Come on! I have a 2yr old and a 4yr to deal with on top of taking care of my newborn I don't need you NAGGING at me! Both of my other kids were raised by me. Both of them slept in a crib from about 3-4 months until they no longer needed it. Both of my kids sleep in their own beds to this day. I think I can handle it!!! In my opinion I should be doing what works for ME. Am I right? During the day I try all day to put him in his crib and maybe 1 out of 10 times he actually stays asleep in it. I will try once in the middle of the night and after that no because I am lucky if I get 5 hours of sleep on any other night. I got him to sleep in his crib from 11pm to 3:30am last night, but when I put him back around 4:30 he wouldn't stay asleep so finally around 6 I put him in his swing after he woke me up every 20 minutes. She doesn't work today so when she woke up and saw him in his swing she started the nagging again. What would you do or say? Am I wrong? I think I'm right because my other kids are just fine. I keep explaining how he won't sleep and I need to sleep, but that doesn't work. I'm going crazy!

4 1/4 month old keeps rolling onto his belly while sleeping?

Of course I put him on his back to sleep but within 5 mins he rolls back over to his belly, and the way he rolls in his crib puts his face right in the corner between the bumper and crib matress, pretty scary stuff. So last night after his 4 am feeding I just put him on his belly in the middle of the crib, and he was still there this morning. Is this terrible? It's the only way he wont end up with his face in the corner. I mean I know when we were all babies our moms put us on our bellies to sleep every night, I just really wish he wasn't doing this until 6 months when the risk of SIDS goes down.... And he absolutely wont sleep with the moses blanket or anything that holds him on his back, he can't stand anything to be touching him.

How much boost does the gauge say under the spedometer? some times the boost actuator hoses crack and all a sudden you have over 14 psi boost and slipping clutch. A word of warning a well worn stock engine will only take 14 psi boost a short time before connecting rods come out of the motor. Good Luck

This has actually happened, during WW2 at the Desert Training Center in eastern Imperial County,CA. An M-3 tank from Pattons training center was crossing the tracks and was hit by a Santa Fe passenger train. The engine and two of the cars were derailed and the tank was flipped over killing one of the crew and injuring three others. So I took my 4 month old to the doctor for her regular check up and he noticed the right side of her head in the back is kind of flat. She prefers to sleep facing to the right and I never thought anything of it until now. He said I need to have her sleep looking to the left. When she falls asleep I try to turn her head but I notice when I wake up to check on her she is back in her same old position. I won't let her sleep on her tummy at night due to SIDS and I am afraid to prop her on her side with a blanket wedged behind her for fear she may pull it over her head or turn into it and suffocate. The doctor informed me that if it doesn't improve within a month he wants to have her fitted with a cranial helmet that she will have to wear 23 hours a day. I don't want to put her through that. So does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else dealt with this same thing in their child?

Climbing Mount Shasta with MicroSpikes instead of real crampons?

I'm planning on hiking up Mount Shasta (avalanche gulch route) this June. A lot of sources say you need fully on hard plastic mountaineering boots and crampons to make it up there, but a friend of mine who has done it a few times says he's not sure you really need those. I just have regular hiking boots and I don't want to have to buy/rent mountaineering boots unless I really have to. There are some less-hardcore things called MicroSpikes that will go onto the normal hiking boots which should still increase traction in snow/ice and have pretty good review, but are they good enough for Shasta? Apparently it gets up to as much as a 60% grade in some spots and is generally pretty steep the entire way. What is the steepest terrain that MicroSpikes are acceptable for?
